Even though the Department of Justice (DOJ) states that federal laws prohibit discrimination and protect civil rights, there are still times when legal authorities get involved and the exact opposite happens. We want to know what you think about this and how you feel our civil rights are infringed upon by the government at all levels.
ASK LLP is offering a $2,500 scholarship to college students who submit an essay that describes how civil rights are affected when a legal authority gets involved.
You can write your essay however you want. Feel free to include historical or cultural examples, court cases, and your own personal experiences. Please follow these basic guidelines for submission:
Your essay should reflect your passion and understanding of civil rights in the U.S. Our selection committee is looking for essays that are more than just a simple retelling of civil rights history and facts. We are looking forward to reading all of the essays submitted.
To apply for our scholarship, you must be able to prove the following:
You must provide an academic transcript if requested. You can submit your essay through our application form. Please take your time and be sure that all of the information you submit is accurate. There are no resubmissions. Give yourself ample time to write and submit your essay. Technical difficulties are not an acceptable excuse for late submissions.
