Shrimp Recall
Shrimp is the most popular seafood in the United States. On June 25, 2021 the FDA announced a recall of frozen cooked shrimp distributed by Avanti Frozen Foods Pvt. Ltd. The shrimp was sold under the brand names Censea, Hannaford, Open Acres, Waterfront Bistro, Honest Catch, COS, 365, and Meijer. FDA sample testing found that frozen cooked shrimp imported by Avanti Frozen Foods contained Salmonella. “With an abundance of caution”, the company is recalling other frozen cooked shrimp products. According to the company notice, there have been 6 reports of Salmonella-related illness to date associated with the recall. A full list of affected products with lot numbers can be found here. Johnson & Johnson Organix Hair Care Lawsuits
While their products have not been officially recalled, Organix brand hair care products may cause hair loss, according to new lawsuits filed against manufacturer Johnson & Johnson. With a variety of scents like coconut water and tea tree oil, their products sound natural and healthy – except for ingredients like DMDM hydantoin, which is “known to slowly leach formaldehyde when coming into contact with water,” according to the class action lawsuit filed by plaintiff Larissa Whipple. Consumers who have experienced hair loss after using Organix products can contact an attorney to find out what their rights are.

Dole Blueberry Recall
Dole Diversified North America, Inc. announced a recall this week involving “a limited number” of cases of Dole™ Fresh Blueberries packaged in clamshell containers. The recall is due to potential Cyclospora parasite contamination. The recall is voluntary, and the recall notice says no other Dole products are affected. Consumers are urged to discard any unused product they may have at home. The blueberries included in the recall were sold in Illinois, New York, Maine, and Wisconsin, as well as Alberta and British Columbia. To date, no illnesses have been reported.
