CASE ALERT: Injectafer (ferric carboxymaltose) Lawsuits.
Our team of attorneys is currently investigating claims that Injectafer (ferric carboxymaltose) use may be associated with an increased risk of hypophsphatemia.

What We Know About Injectafer
Injectafer is prescribed to treat blood iron deficiency anemia in adults. Injectafer is manufactured by American Regent of Melville, NY. American Regent was formed through a 2019 merger with Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and is owned by Daichi Sankyo of Tokyo, Japan. The FDA first approved Injectafer for use in the US on January 17, 2013.
In February 2020, the FDA approved a label update for Injectafer, adding the new warning that doctors should “[m]onitor serum phosphate levels in patients at risk for low serum phosphate who require a repeat course of treatment” because “[s]ymptomatic hypophosphatemia requiring clinical intervention has been reported in patients at risk of low serum phosphate.”
Hypophosphatemia is an electrolyte disorder where the blood has abnormally low levels of phosphate. Its symptoms may include:
- Weakness
- Trouble breathing
- Loss of appetite
- Seizures
- Coma
- Rhabdomyolysis (skeletal muscle breakdown)
- Osteomalacia (softening of the bones)
